Empowering school teachers, volunteers and caregivers with Yoga
Date : 28th May to 1st June 2011.
On 28th May through 1st June in KL, the Malaysian Yoga Society (MYS) organised and successfully conducted the “Learn to Teach, Teach to Learn” programme for the third time with full support of Yoga Franchise and a team of MAYI certified volunteer instructors led by Master Manisekaran. The five day fully sponsored foundation International Yoga Instructor Course (IYIC) is to empower shortlisted candidates with the tools of yoga which does not only improve their own health but also can be applied to help others under their responsibility and care.
A total of 70 candidates were shortlisted and many were school teachers, volunteers and caregivers of various NGOs (Hospis, NASAM, MAKNA, Sai Fund group, YWCA) coming from as far as Johor, Sabah and Sarawak to attend the programme held in Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (T) Fletcher. Those who completed the course were evaluated and received full certification as a Level 1 yoga instructor.
There were many positive feedbacks from participants on significant health improvements by the end of the intensive training, including better awareness, communications and confidence. They were motivated and made a resolution to share this new knowledge with others.
